What is MessageSpace?
Our services enable interested parties to advertise and campaign via Britain’s influential news/current affairs sites and blogs. For publishers, we offer the ability to make money from (or “monetise”) their sites. You simply leverage your engaged audience and unique content, and we’ll work the rest out.
What are the requirements for a publisher to join?
We currently accept active sites
- that deliver more than 1000 page impressions every day
- that offer highly targeted, relevant and regularly updated content
- have professional design values
- that have an active user
The MessageSpace network will not accept publishers with illegal, hate speech/graphics or adult content on their sites. Our goal is to provide partners with a safe environment to engage with an affluent and influential audience. Sites containing content which does not meet these guidelines will not be able to participate in the publisher program and may have their accounts deactivated.
How can my site participate?
If you think your site will fit within the MessageSpace network, visit and submit our online application form and we’ll get in touch once we’ve evaluated your site. This process usually takes 2-3 weeks. Please ensure that you read and agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before submitting your application.
Technology
Do I need any special technology or knowledge to display MessageSpace ads on my site?
Publishers need to be able to copy and paste HTML code and place it accurately within the code of a Web page or within an email. We’ve got lots of experience with most Content Management Systems, and so we’re always able to help.

How does MessageSpace count visitor traffic?
Our tracking methods count how many times an advertiser’s banner creative is viewed. We base our statistics on the number of times an ad is downloaded from our server on to a given page. This “impression” number will typically be higher than the number of page views if you place more than one ad on each page.
Editorial
Can I still participate with other ad networks?
Yes, although all MessageSpace adverts must appear in more prominent positions (when compared to other ads). We approach major ad and marketing agencies all the time, and
Can I opt-out of some advertising campaigns?
Yes, of course. When you first register, we ask about the kinds of advertisers you’d prefer not to have on your site. We’ll work closely with you throughout the way - so there’s nothing to worry about.
Revenue/Payment
What is an impression, and what is CPM?
An impression is the viewing of an advertising banner, link, or product on your site. CPM (‘cost-per-mille’) is a metric for online advertising where a specific rate is set for every thousand impressions delivered. MessageSpace utilises the CPM model, most of the time. Use our calculator utility if you need to work some of those figures out.
How much will I earn with MessageSpace?
Earnings vary greatly between publishers and are affected by a number of factors. Your earnings are based on the pricing for each ad campaign and the number of campaigns you select to fill your inventory. Other factors, such as the geographic location of your visitors, the demographics of your visitors, the number of unique views versus total page views, and your overall traffic levels can also play a part in determining your overall revenue potential. Market conditions for pricing are constantly changing. That being said, we are able to charge advertisers a premium rate if people from specific demographics or locations view their ads. Market conditions for pricing are constantly changing, so we can’t definitively promise a given rate.
When will I get paid?
Accounts are settled on a rolling three months in arrears basis. Balances below £100 remain on account.
